Automobile Design

  • How long can it take to design a car? What do they start off with?
  • They start off with a sceatching phase and it takes about 3 years.
  • Why is design called problem solving?
  • Design various.
  • What is the feasibility stage? (What do they have to match up?)
  • You take 3 skeathes you really like and that maintames the theme.
  • Do you think designing an automobile or other type of vehicle would interest you? Explain.
  • No, because you need to know a lot about cars and I do not.

Automobile Body Styles and Design

The convertable- A vehicle providing an open-air passenger cabin for traveling during good weather, convertibles provide the protection of a retractable roof when weather conditions turn unpleasant, it is considered an automotive lifestyle choice best suited for warmer climates.
2015 Ferrari California
Van- For individuals or businesses that require a vehicle with a single large enclosed area, a van could be a leading choice for drivers. Capable of securely holding a large amount of cargo or passengers, vans are significantly styled for practicality rather than other factors such as performance

Sports car- ports cars are intent to create an atmosphere of fun for the driver on the streets or possibly on the race track. On-road performers, sports cars do not adhere stringently to any specific body style criteria allowing a driver to decide on a vehicle matching their individual tastes and lifestyle.

Luxury cars-  A luxury car is considered the peak of driving comfort and aspires to provide the most rewarding sensation of motoring. Based on the oddity and expense of early automobiles, the luxury car category was actually one of the first vehicle types established. One key element of a luxury car is their higher cost to conventional automobiles.
2012 Ford Mustang
Hybird car- Capitalizing on the strengths and efficiencies of two powerplants, hybrid cars have emerged as an important vehicle class. Hybrid cars generally operate with an internal combustion engine and electric motor working together in order to gain greater fuel economy or to boost power. Electric power for hybrid cars is sourced from power outlets or through regenerative braking.

Jobs in the Automotive Industry

If I could pick any of these jobs to have for the rest of my life I would pick the FI Safty Car driver because it seems to be the mosat exciting and fun job on the list and I think it would be fun to try and drive the car without the tires exploading. The job I would want to have the least would be the car designer because it would be very boring and take way to much time to do.

Certification in the Automotive Industry

We help every player in the automotive industry improve performance and reduce risk. Our services focus on the design, construction and operation of motor vehicle inspection solutions all over the world. Governments, manufacturers and financing and insurance companies, as well as consumers, rely on our independent, accurate and secure solutions to limit damages and increase automotive safety.

Out of these 3 jobs the one i would like to have would be the SGS because they mainly focus on design, construction and operation of moter vehicle inspections all over the world and I think this job would be the most exciting job out of them all because you would actually be doing something. I would like this job the most because this seems like a job were you would satisfy the people who buy the car most.
  • What are some aspects of being an automotive technician that you think you would enjoy? Explain.
  • Getting to see all the cars.
  • Discuss one or two things that you found interesting about the video.
  • I found it interesting that he was only 17 and he could do all that stuff.
  • It is said that being an automotive technician requires life-long learning. Considering the aspects of mechanics, electronics and technology that the technician and student deal with in this video, discuss this notion of life-long learning and why it is important and necessary.
  • Because you will always drive a car so you should know hoe to fix them.
  • What do you think are some characteristics and skills someone should possess when considering a career as an automotive technician
  1. What are some of the high-tech systems on automobiles today that were unheard of 30 years ago? stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control and variable valve timing, just to name a few.
  2. What areas should young people have skills in for a career as an automotive technician? require four, six, or even eight years of college, automotive technology careers can begin after just two years of education.
  3. What are some advantages in obtaining an education as an automotive technicians versus other high-tech educational options? As with any career, lifelong learning and continuing education is necessary, but the simple fact is, students in automotive technology can get out into the real world sooner – and with less college debt.
  4. How many new jobs and at what percentage of growth do they forecast will occur in the automotive technician field up to 2020? 237,500 new jobs and have a 30 percent growth rate through 2020
  5. What is one thing that the automotive technician career is fairly "immune" to that has threatened other careers? cutomers call centers work.
  6. Name at least four other positions that an automotive technician can do in the automotive industry.Line technician, service consultant, service director, and store owner.
  7. Why is the automotive technician role sometimes called "the portal career"?Because so many people have started their careers in the automotive aftermarket as an auto technician

Tech for the Sake of Tech?

  •  Yes i did fid it suprising, because most younger people like to have the latest technology. I do not think this generation wil feel the same becaue our generation has grown up with a lot of technology ofered to them so they will probabley want very advanced technology when they start driving. I think we will find this option benificial because eventually when our generation starts driving there will be more people on the road so we wilol need good technology to nagivate around all the peole.
  • I think it only make it easier for drivers to take more risks becuase if they didnt have all of these options they would have to actually put the phone down and drive because it would be harder to drive.
  • I think they are pretty important for the car to be updated but at the same time it would not matter that much.
  • One important technological feature I would like to have would be bluetooth becaue that is good when you are driving because you can talk through it hands free making it safer on the road.
  • One feature I think introduced in earlier time that they may have thought was useless would be the airbag becuase some people may not have thought that a bag of air would help much but in times today we would not be able to live without them, they have saved many peoples lifes.

Technologies in Development

Write a response in your blog post concerning the information you read and viewed. Create a subtitle in the blog post called "Technologies in Development."
Use the following statements/questions below to help create your response:
  • Out of the six emerging technologies discussed in the article you read, which one do you think is less likely to happen? Explain your reasoning. I think the flying car is most unlikely to happen because that would take a lot of technology.
  • Out of the six emerging technologies from the article, which one do you think will have the biggest impact on society? Discuss why. The self driving car becuase everyone will eventaully want one so they dont have to drive them slefs places.
  • Out of the six emerging technologies, which one do you think is almost a reality or may already be part of newer automobiles in some shape or form? (In other words, out of the six of them, which is likely to be the first technology used in automobiles?) I think the self driving car because there is already cars that park them selves.
  • The first video you viewed discusses Ford's "Driver Workload Estimator" which is a biometric sensing system. How do you think this technology could help keep drivers and their passengers safer? It could keep them safe because if the people driving with them know that they are strested out they could take the wheel to prevent them from a car crash.
  • The second video looks at a possible prototype of a flying automobile while the third video shows the actual trial run of a working model. What are your thoughts on this technology? What do you think are the benefits and the disadvantages of having an automobile that can travel by land and air? The advantages are that you can go anywhere you want without switching vechicels. Disadvantages are that it would probabley cost a lot of money.
  • The idea of a self-driving automobile (or autonomous automobile) has been discussed and argued about for a number of years now. Some people think it is a great idea, and they argue it would result in less driver error and fewer accidents. Other people think it is robbing drivers of the "experience" of the open road and takes away the role of driving which many people enjoy. Where do you stand? Explain your position. I  think its a good idea but it will take a lot of time and money.

Automobile Timeline

  • 1911: the electric starter was introduced. I found this interesting because before that the engine was started by hand cranking.
  • 1935: flashing turn signals introduced. I found this interesting because now those are a big part of driving a vehicle.
  • 1939: the first air conditioning system added to automobiles. I found this interesting because the AC is used all the time in cars today, so imagine a hot summer day without it.
  • 1970: airbags become standard. I found this interesting because they are in all cars now.

Invention of the Automobile

  • The early automobiles originally used the steam engine as their main source of power.
  • The very first automobile is generally credited to 18th century french inventor Nicolas Joseph Cugnot.
  • 1880's German inventor Carl Benz is generally credited as the father of the automobile.

The Ford Edsel

  • It has gone down in history as a synonym for failure.
  • It was named after Henry Ford's son.
  • 3 years after its debut, Ford pulled the Edsel from its lining.
  • Estimates of Fords cost to build and market the Edsel were somewhere between 250-350 million dollars.

henry Ford

Explain how the assembly line changed from suggestions made to Henry Ford by three of his employees.
Instead of the workers moving, the line moved and the workers stayed in place.
Why did workers tend to stay longer and be more committed to Ford's company than other companies at that time?
He treated them fairly and gave them an affordable wage.
How much did the first Model T cost? For what class of people was it manufactured?
It cost $800.
The Model T price dropped dramatically. To what price did it drop? Why do you think it dropped so much?
A little over $365. I think it dropped so much because
As the Model T became the main mode of transportation, what did this automobile offer people?
People could travel for pleasure and go wherever they want, whenever they want.

Car Benz

  1. For how many years has the automobile been around? 120 years.
  2. What is a patent? The answer is not in the video, so search for an answer online.
  3. When Carl Benz obtains a patent in January of 1886 for his invention, what title did he use to describe the automobile?  The birth certificate of the automobile.
  4. Who in his family drives his invention in August of 1888? What is "born" from this drive? His wife and the first petrol system.
  5. What did the so called "axial pivot steering system" help solve? Steering the front two wheels synotanisley.
  6. What is the new name when the two automobile companies are merged? Benz & Co and Dimlyer motor company.
  7. What did Benz experience as a pioneer in technology that many pioneers never experience? To live to see his dream come true.

  • I found it most surprising that digital shopping could be considered becoming the main focus, because there are still many people who still shop in stores, and stores could lose a lot of customers if they stop supplying some products.
  • I found it confusing how Paypal is so trusted. If they can trust that, then why can't they just trust the online websites themself.
  • I've purchased many things online. All my online shopping experiences have been positive, I got what I want.
  • I have never sold anything online.
  • Two tips that I think are helpful/important to think of when online shopping are:
    1. When buying online sometimes prices seem too good to be true so be careful of LARGE SHIPPING COSTS designed by the seller to get the real price through trickery. because people may not be aware of what the shipping cost may be, on top of their order.
    2. When buying using KIJIJI and other online service make sure buying is done in a PUBLIC PLACE and never send money via mail or other ways to the seller. because many people use online services like KIJIJI, and products on those websites may not always be real, it could be someone just looking for money.

  • I think the biggest issue among young people when it comes to onling shopping and/or selling, is that people don't realize how you have to check where and who you are getting your product from. If you don't check all the services, then your purchase may never come, or may come the completely wrong thing. Also when selling things online, you have to make sure you include all of the information needed.

Assignment #2 PayPal

  1. Paypal stores and helps you protect yuor financial information, and allows you so enjoy online shopping without needing to re-enter card details.
  2. Paypal keeps you safe when shopping at all online stores, by not sharing your financial information with sellers.
  3. Paypal makes money through the fees that they charge to a payments recipient.
  4. If a purchase does not go as planned, Paypal gives the customer 180 days to raise their concerns so that Paypal can help.
  5. If I were to start a business I would allow payment using Paypal because if I didn't, I could lose the customers who may not want to pay without it.
  6. I would prefer to use Paypal because it keeps your financial information safe. It also makes you more trustworthy of shopping online when using it.

Assignment #1: Shopping Carts

  1. What are the 2 biggest reasons people still shop at stores?
  2. What are the 2 biggest reasons people shop online?
  3. If you had the ability which buying experience would you prefer and why?
  4. Will online shopping be the only method in 2050 or will people gradually return to stores or strike a balance? Why?
  5. Canada Post has been crippled by the lack of letter sending due to social media and emails etc..... They have decided to focus now mainly on digital shopping and delivering the puchased products. Is this a smart business plan change? Why or why not?
  6. If something is wrong with your product it is far easier to return it to a physical store. Suggest one way that online shopping could make their return process easier for the buyer and make physical stores even less meaningful.
1.The 2 biggest reasons people still shop at stores is because they can pay in cash, and can actually see what the item looks like insted of looking at a photo of it.
2.The 2 biggest reasons people shop online is becaue you can sit home and shope; you dont have to go anywhere. Also because you can shop anytime there is no store hours.
3.I would prefur shopping online because you can sit home and shope; you dont have to go anywhere. Also because you can shop anytime there is no store hours.
4.I think in 2050 online shopping will be the only option because the internet\tecnology just keeps getting busey.
5.
I think this is a smart option because letter sending is never going to get bigger again so they might as well find another way to make money.
6.Online shops could make one place in every town where you could take your returns and then they could make one big order tio send the stuf back and they could ship you your new product or send you money through mail from the actual company.

Journal Entry #5 (Digital Wellness)

1. I found it most suprising how many people use the internet.

5. I think the biggest issue is that we do not realize what actually can happen on line and how easy it is for something to happen.

"Netiquette" Online Discussion Boards

3. I have never made comments.

4.No, I would not enjoy a course like this because I do not like doing things online.

Do as I say Assiginment #2

Five things that will make me choose the right way of doing things in digital security:

1. I would loose friends.

  1. Ask.fm
  1. Twitter.com
  1. Facebook.com
  1. Youtube.com
  1. Itunes.com
  • 2. According to "the street" pretty much every social network has a clause written into their user agreements that allows them to use your pictures for commercial purposes.
  • Facebook says that it will provide notice of any pending changes to its terms and conditions, and give users an opportunity to comment on those changes. But to get this notice you'll need to "Like" the Facebook Site Governance page, and for your comments on a proposed change to make any difference, at least 7,000 users must comment on the post announcing the change.
  • Google is particularly interested in what you do with your time, and you can even see the online dossier the company keeps on you.
  • For some services, such as antivirus software, you're buying a one-year update agreement, and typically they're opting you in to sign up for another year for the going rate.
  • Netflix requires you to input your credit card info when signing up for a free week or month of service. Their hope, of course, is that you'll like the service enough to continue on beyond the free trial - or failing that, forget you signed up in the first place.

Journal Entry #4 (Digital Rights and Responsibilities)

  • The thing that I found most surprising was how strict some of the rules are and how easy it could be to break them.
  • I think most people do but over half probably do not because teenagers do not realize what they do when they are online.
  • If I had to pick only one commandment I would choose " thou shall not create a false identity" because acting like your someone else or stealing someone's identity is not okay.

Assignment #1 (Communication Compass)

1.Digital Communication- Electronic transmission of information that has been encoded digitally (as for storage and processing by computers)
2. Advantages- 1. It is fast and easier.
2. No paper is wasted.
3. The messages can be stored in the device for longer times, without being damaged, unlike paper files that easily get damages or attacked by insects.
4. Digital communication can be done over large distances through internet and other things.

Disadvantages- 1. the softwares can be easily hacked.
2. Sometimes, the quickness of digital communication is harmful as messages can be sent with the click of a mouse.
3. Digital Communication has completely ignored the human touch. A personal touch cannot be established because all the computers will have the same font!
4. The establishment of Digital Communication causes degradation of the environment in some cases.

3.Texting, Social media, and sending pictures. They are popular because you can easily access them and they are easier than sending a letter in the mail.

4. Email, msn, and audio on cell phones. I think this because everyone already has forget about them is is using text messages to communicate.

5.Text your boss and say your gonna be late for work. You should call him or try to be on time.
Do not text and drive because it is dangerous.
do not use your phone in class.
do not break up with someone over text.
do not use your phone in the tub because you could get shocked if you drop it in.

6. texting and driving and rude comments over social media. Texting and driving harms you because you can get in an accident and rude comments over the social media can hit a persons feelings.

7.People will continue to be more and more connected because the social media and digital things will just keep improving.

8. They should be deleted and someone who is related to them should delete it.

    Plan of Action (photography)

Tomorrow when we go outside to take photos, I plan to use the feauter "Rule of Thirds" With somebody standing on the hill and me pointing the camera towards the left and putting the person in the right of the frame. For the other photo that I will be makeing it look like im doing it wrong I will put the person up close instead of far away.

I will also use the technique "Point of Veiw". I will probabley take diffrent a picture of a fall coloured leave and for the that I will be makeing it look like Im doing it wrong I will take it looking up and make the leave be compleatly in the oppisite direction.

    Apps On Google

              Pic Monkey
The 3rd party app I chose was "Pic Monkey". I like this app because its easy to use. You can edit, crop and make collages out of any photos you want. I use this app for all of my photos I take because it has every feature you need!

    Facebook Messenger
The other 3rd party app I chose was "Facebook Messenger" I chose this app because When using Facebook it is pretty hard to message people, but with Messenger it is a lot easier!

    Digital Camera

The camera I would like to have is the Canon Powershot G7 X because its very small and has a big lense. I think that this camera would be good for taking any kind of photos. I think i would like it because Soney made changes to this camera like a 1' type sensor into genuinely pocketable compact.

You can buy it on Amazon.com for $699.00.

    Photo Editing

            Rule of Thirds

    • First, we darkened up the picture.
    • Then we focused just on the basketball net.
    •  We blurred out the rest of the picture.
    • We added a vintage filter.
    • We brightened up the sky.

           Level Horizon

    • First we cropped it.
    • Then we flipped it to the left.
    • We added a vintage filter.
    • We focused on the trees.
    • We brightened the whole picture.

           Point of View
    • First cropped the picture.
    • Then we focused it on the centre.
    • We blurred out the rest.
    • We added a border.
    • We added a vintage filter.

We used effects like brightening the photo to make it look more lively and stand out. We also blurred out the background and focused on the main object that was in the picture to make it stand out. We added a vintage filter to each photo to give it an older look.
